Match Rewind: this season’s best home games

First, Andreas Pereira teed up Martial for the equaliser, and then Mason Greenwood thrashed a sumptuous drive in off the bar following a loose pass in the Newcastle defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s delicious cross invited Rashford to power home at the back post just a few minutes before half-time, and United were suddenly in cruise control, and threatening to score every time we bounded forward. After the break, there was another for the cool Martial, and the final scoreline could have been much more destructive had Solskjaer’s men pressed on. Instead, we chose to reserve energy, given the relentless Christmas and New Year scheduling, but for 20-30 minutes or so, this was an attacking display of real high quality.

UNITED 3 WATFORD 0 (23 February 2020)

This match may go down as the day that Bruno Fernandes truly installed himself within the hearts of the Old Trafford faithful. United made a somewhat awkward start to the match, and should have gone behind after an early mix-up between Harry Maguire and Nemanja Matic let Troy Deeney in, only for a great tackle from Luke Shaw to save the day.
