Manchester City are interested in signing Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell ahead of a potential exodus by the Blues this summer.

Chilwell has endured another injury-hit season at Stamford Bridge and only recently played his way back into the starting XI.

Pep Guardiola attempted to sign the the 26-year-old in 2020 before he sealed a £50million move to west London from Leicester.

And the reigning Premier League champions may return for Chilwell, who could be sold by Chelsea, according to The Athletic.

The England international is one of six players who could be moved on by the Blues in their attempts to reduce Graham Potter’s big squad.

Chelsea are looking to balance the books having spent over £500million on players since Todd Boehly’s takeover last summer.

The Athletic also report Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mateo Kovacic, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who all have a year remaining on their contracts, will be sold if doubts remain over their extensions.

Chilwell has two years remaining on his deal but the club is aware his value could depreciate as times passes.

After scoring against former club Leicester on Saturday, he told Chelsea’s Fifth Stand app: ‘I love the way the fans got behind us. They have done all season, it’s been a difficult season but they’ve stuck with us and to hear them singing that song (won the European Cup) the whole game was nice for me, (it) gave me a little boost.’

Meanwhile, Manchester City look certain to be on the market for a left-back this summer after Joao Cancelo fell out with Guardiola before sealing a loan move to Bayern Munich in January.

Nathan Ake has filled in for the Portugal international but despite his impressive performances, the Dutchman’s strongest position remains at centre-back.
