Manchester City captain David Silva ‘offered lucrative pay day by Qatar side Al-Duhail’

David Silva is reportedly being offered a lucrative pay day to finish his career out in Qatar, according to reports.

The Spaniard’s contract at Manchester City is set to expire this summer, which will bring the curtain down on his trophy-laden 10 years at the Etihad.

And according to The Mirror, Doha-based Al-Duhail, who top the Qatar Stars League, are desperate to sign Silva and have told the player’s representatives that they are willing to blow any rivals for his signature out of the water in terms of a financial package.

The 34-year-old is already wanted by a number of clubs in Spain and the United States.

However, the report suggests that there is a desire in Qatar to raise the profile and standard of their domestic game – especially with the 2022 World Cup just around the corner.

Al-Duhail believe Silva is just to man to help do that and believe him signing will represent a major coup for Qatari football.

Before deciding on his next move, Silva still has the current Premier League campaign to weigh up and has reportedly been offered a short extension on his deal, which is due to run out on June 30.

Silva is likely to delay his exit from the Etihad until City complete their current campaign – which will see them battle it out in the Champions League and FA Cup.

He has been at the forefront of City’s rise to dominance since signing from Valencia for £26million in 2010, winning four league titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.

Silva also has a World Cup winner’s medal and is a two-time European Championship winner with Spain.
