Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer was spotted in attendance in the club’s FA Cup final defeat by Man City on Saturday.

Glazer was sitting alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and former United executive David Gill at Wembley and was pictured shaking hands with Man City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak prior to kick-off.

Despite attending games less frequently in recent seasons, Saturday’s clash marked the 62-year-old New York native’s third trip to Wembley this year, having previously attended United’s league cup victory over Newcastle in February and the club’s defeat in the Women’s FA Cup final last month.

Glazer was greeted with boos by United fans when he appeared on the big screen during the league cup final, and was later filmed congratulating Erik ten Hag outside the dressing room after the Dutchman ended the club’s six-year trophy drought.

His previous two trips to games by private jet have cost the club £250,000 each according to a report from The Athletic and he is believed to have traveled the same way for the FA Cup final.

Avram’s brother and United co-owner, Bryan Glazer was also in attendance for the game, and was pictured with the famous trophy alongside his family prior to kick-off.

The Glazer family have spent more than 15 years at the helm of the club since acquiring a majority stake in 2005, and have presided over an ever-deteriorating relationship between the ownership and the Old Trafford faithful.

However, the family’s reign at the club could but look set to depart this summer as a long-rumoured takeover looks set to finally be in motion.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, of Qatar, and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the only publicly interested parties in a full takeover, with a recent report from the sun claiming Ratcliffe is the Glazers’ preferred bidder.

However, sources close to both of the club’s prospective new owners claimed last month that stories about Ratcliffe now being in pole position may in fact be part of strategic play by New York bankers Raine to squeeze yet bigger bids from both parties.
