Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester and Crystal Palace in hunt for Joachim Andersen

Joachim Andersen is a man in demand after impressing on loan at Fulham with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly interested in his services.

The centre-back has established himself in the heart of defence for Fulham this season, and despite the looming threat of relegation from the Premier League, he has done enough to attract interest from some of the Premier League’s elite teams.

According to Danish publication BT Sports’ football podcast – Transfer Window – United, Chelsea and Tottenham are in the hunt for the centre-back, who joined Fulham on a season-long loan at the start of the campaign from Lyon.

The podcast also reports that the 24-year-old’s representatives are set to meet with Tottenham next week regarding a potential transfer in the summer after Sportsmail previously revealed Spurs were weighing up a move for him.

Tottenham want to improve their defence with question marks over the futures of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld.

But United, Chelsea and Spurs have been joined in the race for Andersen’s signature from fellow Premier League sides Leicester and Crystal Palace.

However, despite the heavy interest in his services and with Fulham in a precarious position, Andersen reportedly isn’t ‘reluctant’ to staying at Craven Cottage beyond the season – but this will surely hinge on whether the club remain in the Premier League.

The Denmark international has a close relationship with Fulham boss Scott Parker – and was given the captain’s armband in the absence of the injured Tom Cairney.

Fulham will be desperate to make Andersen’s loan move permanent come the end of the season after he became an integral part of the backbone as they look to pull off the great escape in the Premier League.

It appears as if Andersen has no future in France, with the 24-year-old having already told Lyon that he is keen to stay in the Premier League and they are happy to recoup funds after feeling the financial pinch of the Covid pandemic.

The Ligue 1 ouftit would want around £25m for Andersen and clubs are set to scramble for his signature in the summer window.

Lyon’s sporting director Juninho recently confirmed he expects Andersen to stay in England after his impressive form for the Cottagers.

Andersen started his career with Twente before joining Italian club Sampdoria in 2017.

He spent two seasons in Serie A but moved to Lyon in 2019, becoming their record transfer at £26m.
