Liverpool, Manchester United and City ‘are all battling for Leeds loan star Ben White’

Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested in signing Ben White from Brighton this summer, according to The Athletic.

The 22-year-old defender has enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at Championship side Leeds, helping them to the top of the table prior to football’s shutdown.

And his form in the second tier has caught the eye of at least three Premier League giants ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The Athletic claim that runaway league leaders Liverpool have been following the talented Englishman all season, with scout Andy O’Brien ‘watching him a lot’.

United and City have also been credited with an interest in White, who has spent time out on loan at Peterborough and Newport in the last few years.

Leeds had hoped to keep White, who has started all 37 Championship games so far this season, on loan after securing their long-awaited return to the Premier League.

But Marcelo Bielsa and his staff are now said to be resigned to losing the Brighton star at the end of the campaign, with a number of big clubs circling.

Liverpool appear to have little need for a new central defender, although White would represent a bright prospect for the future with Dejan Lovren’s future at Anfield uncertain.

United are on the lookout for a long-term partner for captain Harry Maguire, while Pep Guardiola is keen to shake-up his defensive options following their problems at the back this term.
