Brazos Bend State Park reminded guests to leave no trace while enjoying the outdoors. The Texas State Park posted several pictures of trash at its park – including an alligator with an empty Gatorade bottle in its mouth – on its Facebook page on Monday, November 22.

The Houston area park wrote the park was filled with visitors last weekend but found trash people left behind. Brazos Bend stated it wants to send a friendly reminder to all to dispose of trash.

“We want to give a friendly reminder to leave no trace when you visit outdoor spaces like your local State Park,” Brazos Bend wrote. “If you bring it in, take it out with you. Dispose of all your trash in the proper trash bin.”

The park noted leaving trash behind means the next person doesn’t get to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Brazos Bend. Officials added it harms wildlife when they try to eat leftover food that’s not good for them and often end up consuming trash, like plastics, that they confused as food.

“On this holiday week, we invite you to come spend time outdoors with us, but please remember to help us keep these beautiful, wild spaces clean, safe, and, well… Beautiful,” the park concluded.
