Koei Tecmo’s official websites have been temporarily closed after the European branch was hit by a cyber attack.

In a press release issued on 29th December, Koei Tecmo confirmed forum login details of about 65,000 accounts had been leaked. This includes account names, passwords (in an encrypted state) and mail addresses. Fortunately, no credit card details, customer or employee information appear to have been stolen.

If you navigate to the American or European Koei Tecmo websites, you’ll be presented with the following message:

“Due to the possibility of an external cyberattack on this website, it is temporarily closed as we investigate the issue.”

Anyone with a Koei Tecmo account is advised to update their password as soon as possible.

This latest cyber attack follows on from a huge Capcom leak last month, which saw around 1TB of sensitive data allegedly stolen and has seemingly revealed many of the company’s upcoming projects ahead of schedule.

Koei Tecmo most recently assisted with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and will release Atelier Ryza 2 on the Switch early next year.
