Keldon Johnson has been promoted to Team USA

United States Basketball has promoted San Antonio Spurs small forward Keldon Johnson to the men’s senior national team.

Team USA has also promoted Darius Garland, Saddiq Bey, Josh Magette, John Jenkins, Dakota Mathias, and former Spur Cam Reynolds from the USA Select Team.

These additions will give Team USA some much-needed depth as Devin Booker, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday remain unavailable due to their ongoing participation in the 2021 NBA Finals.

All seven players will join the United States as they begin their five-game exhibition series that kicks off against Nigeria this Saturday at 7 PM CST at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Although the recent call-ups probably won’t remain with Team USA when they travel to Tokyo later this month for the rescheduled 2020 Olympics, Johnson has drawn glowing reviews at Team USA training camp.

Keldon will wear number 40 when he represents the Red, White, and Blue this summer. He joins Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Gary Harris, Shawn Long, Marcus Smart, and Darius Morris in donning this number for Team USA.
