Kawhi Leonard to miss several more weeks.
The San Antonio Spurs could lose the services of their NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard for at least a few more weeks due to a torn ligament in his right hand. Spurs coach Greg Popovich said “It’s going to be weeks. More weeks,” Popovich said. “His hand doesn’t work. If it just hurt he’d play. He’s a tough kid. But his hand doesn’t work. It doesn’t catch things. He can’t do what you do — shoot. He can’t grab. Each day a little bit (better), less pain, more function. Not near enough to go play.” The Spurs have said they are not considering surgery an option at this time to fix Kawhi Leonard’s hand as this would take him out for the whole season. A source close to the San Antonio Spurs revealed that Kawhi Leonard could return as soon as the Rodeo Road trip but will most likely play with a brace on his hand the rest of the season. The Spurs need a healthy Kawhi Leonard if they expect to repeat as NBA Champs it’s as simple as that.
