Jerry Jones says Cowboys are worth ‘more than $10 billion’
Jerry Jones has no plans to part ways with his most prized possession — the Dallas Cowboys. If he did, however, he’d make a boatload of dough.
That’s what the eccentric NFL owner and GM told NBC Sports’ Peter King last week. When asked about the Denver Broncos being sold for what could be a record $5 billion, Jones said his beloved Cowboys would sell for “more than $10 billion,” before quickly adding that he has no plans to sell the team.
Ten billion is quite the jump from the $150 million Jones paid to buy the team in 1989.
As for what Jones thinks the team is worth, the experts don’t think he would get quite that much money. As King reported, Forbes prices the Cowboys at $6.5 billion, while NFL business consultant Marc Ganis thinks Jones could get $8.5 billion.
Of course, none of that really matters because someone would apparently have to pry the Cowboys from Jones’ cold, dead hands before he would part ways with them. Still, it’s interesting to see how far the Dallas franchise has come — from losing roughly $1 million on a monthly basis in the late-80s to being the juggernaut it is today.
