“I’m Happy For Them To Win It…” Robin Van Persie Makes His Title Prediction

Ex-Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is backing the Gunners to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The Dutchman also played for City’s archrivals United so it is not surprising that, when he was asked for his opinion on the title race, he went with Mikel Arteta’s side:

“If you look at this period of time, this is where every single point really counts. They’ve had a couple of difficult games recently. They got the three points there, and that is what makes a champion’s team. They’ve been proving that. But the last stretch is always the difficult one, so it’ll be interesting to see. But my personal feeling is that they will go for it – that they will win the league. It’s been a while, so I’m happy for them to win it.”

Van Persie is right to say that Arsenal have held their nerve up until now. With ten matches to go, they have an eight-point lead over the Citizens, albeit having played a game more.

Funny things can happen in the closing stages of the season, though, and there is still a chance that the Gunners will experience a wobble of some kind during the run-in.

Of course, City have to keep up their end of the bargain. Manager Pep Guardiola will know that his team will need to put together a long winning streak in order to apply the necessary pressure on their rivals.
