Game Thread: San Antonio Spurs at Magic

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs broke up with losing on Sunday night when DeMar DeRozan made a clutch basket with less than a second to go in the game on a play where no other Spur even touched the rock. Tonight, we find out if the breakup is long-lasting, or whether they feel like getting back together after just one day apart. The return of Lonnie Walker IV has given the Silver and Black a shot of energy that they’ve been missing recently, and Dejounte Murray has been gaining the consistency you will need from a young point guard taking the reins of a competitive NBA team. With Jakob Poeltl’s superior defense, and Derrick White joining the block party lately, this team might just have turned the corner.

Or not. They’ve really had some poor games against bad teams, and the Magic are a team they should beat. Which means … well, nobody knows what to expect. Can this team build off of Sunday’s emotional win to gain momentum, or will they fall flat again? Let’s watch and find out.

The game tonight will be Magic, or it might end up tragic. Without Gordon, Orlando’s been tanking, but a win against the Spurs will improve their ranking. Last night’s victory was a win most dramatic, another one could make the good guys purely ecstatic. It’s time to say goodbye to play that’s erratic, and to make the beautiful game automatic.

One final word:

Go Spurs GOOOOOO!!
