Food truck employee at Cowboys Dancehall cited for not wearing a mask

An employee of a food truck at Cowboys Dancehall was cited on Friday after the individual was observed not wearing a mask.

The citation comes days after the venue came under fire last week for hosting two days of concerts, which spurred a series of social media videos showing shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. The dancehall was not initially cited for violations, but did eventually receive two for social distancing and face coverings after the videos made rounds online.

Because of the incidents, Cowboys is now undergoing proactive inspections. It was during one of the inspections that the food truck worker’s violations was observed on Friday.

The dancehall is in danger of having the certificate of occupancy revoked if the violations ensue, but a representative with the city’s development services department confirmed the most-recent citation issued on Cowboy’s property is not reflective of the club and is noted separately.

The food truck was found to be in compliance, but the employee was cited, according to the report.

Enforcement data shows health and safety signage was posted and mostly all, save the employee, were adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.

“Employees and customers observed wearing masks and practicing social distancing where required, except one employee outside of the food truck who was not wearing (a) mask while not social distancing.”
