Eagles survive scare against Texans to move to 8-0 for first time in franchise history
It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.
The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 8-0 for the first time in franchise history on Thursday night, escaping with a 29-17 win over the lowly Houston Texans, who fall to 1-6-1.
After playing to a 14-14 tie at halftime, the Eagles took over in the second half, forcing two Texans turnovers while outscoring Houston 15-3 to remain the league’s only unbeaten team.
Still tied 14-14 in the third quarter, C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s fifth interception of the season set up the Eagles at the Houston 17-yard line. Two plays later, quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with wideout A.J. Brown for a 17-yard touchdown to give the Eagles a 21-14 lead midway through the third quarter.
