Does Dak Prescott deserve the hate he has been getting

Throughout this NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys have had many ups and downs. With an early season injury on Quarterback Dak Prescott‘s finger, to unexpected wins such as against the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams, this season has been crazy.

One problem has stuck out this season in particular, the amount of hate and judgment Dak Prescott has gotten this year. Now, in the game of football, the QB is the leader of the team and when the leader fails to do his job (win games) then that can lead to fans getting upset and wanting change within their team.

This problem has occurred a lot this season, let’s decide if Dak deserves all of this hate from Cowboy fans.

A lot of this started in the very first game of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the Cowboys’ offense didn’t even enter the red zone during the game. After leaving with a thumb injury, many fans were pissed at how the game was handled offensively.

To put more fuel on the fire, backup Quarterback Cooper Rush was on fire! After winning 4 out of 5 games, a QB controversy started in Dallas. This wasn’t good for Dak’s position. While even though Cooper was doing well, the staff decided to keep Prescott as the starter. This didn’t sit well with a lot of Cowboys fans.

Even when Dak returned for his first game (post thumb injury) he still wasn’t liked among fans. People were speaking about how he wasn’t leading the team well. Since his return, he is 4-1 and the Cowboys have scored a total of 169 points.

Before we move on, I’d personally like to speak on this matter. I have always liked Dak and he’s one of my all-time favorite quarterbacks. While I have supported Cooper Rush in the past and praised him for the job he’s done, I still have always liked Prescott as a QB.

When I say that, it helps me to understand the argument of the opposing side. People are mad at Dak Prescott because people believe he isn’t playing at his full potential. This is perhaps a problem that I and many fans have had for a while.

In football and really all over the nation, we want good leaders, and when leaders tend to fail or not get the job done, the fans and people can get angry and upset with the leader. While Dak is an amazing QB and has totally proved it throughout his career, some fans just still don’t like him because they feel as if they deserve more.

In conclusion, Dak doesn’t really deserve the slack he’s getting. I do understand why many fans are mad at his playing style, but really I think this is common with any NFL team. The quarterback position has a lot of pressure on it. When you aren’t having 250+ pound men running after you, your own fanbase is.

Dak is doing a much better job than in the first game of the season, and some people should try to see past that. Dak is a great QB. He can be better of course (as in any QB in the league), but he is a man who can get the job done.
