Despite state parks reopening, the Alamo remains closed

Athough some state parks are reopened as part of Gov. Gregg Abbott’s plan to jump start the state’s economy, the Alamo is reminding visitors the historic site is not included.

The Alamo is still closed, the official social media channels noted on Thursday.

The UNESCO-designated “World Heritage” site follows the guidance of city and state’s for indoor public spaces and enclosed outdoor spaces.

“We can’t open yet but we are planning for that day and hope to see you then,” official Alamo communication reads.

The Alamo announced the temporary shuttering on March 16 until “further notice.”

While the site is closed to the public, the $450 million renovation on Alamo Plaza is still underway, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
