Demba Ba says Steven Gerrard has to feel ‘TERRIBLE’ about his slip that cost Liverpool the title

Demba Ba thinks Steven Gerrard must ‘find it difficult to live with’ the infamous slip that allowed the former Chelsea striker to score the goal that ruined his best chance of winning a Premier League title.

Gerrard and Liverpool were riding an 11-match win streak when they hosted Chelsea at the business end of the 2013-14 season, knowing seven points from their final three matches would be enough to secure the league.

However, a first half slip from Gerrard allowed Ba to run through on goal and give the Blues the lead, a lead they went on to defend brilliantly.

A late strike from Willian inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Brendan Rodgers’ team, allowing Manchester City to go on and be crowned champions, Gerrard ultimately ending his career without a winner’s medal.

Asked for how he feels towards Gerrard, Ba told Sky Sports News on the anniversary of the game on Monday: ‘I think it must be difficult to live with.’

‘You know if I put myself in his shoes, which I really didn’t up until now, but it must be terrible for a player that played so long for one team and that has played so great for one team, basically losing a title on a mistake that he has done.

‘Of course (I have) a degree of sympathy, yeah maybe. I’m not really thinking about it too much.’
