Dejounte Murray fined $25K for kicking the ball into the stands in OKC

The NBA has fined Dejounte Murray $25K for kicking the game ball into the spectator stands following the conclusion of San Antonio’s buzzer-beating loss to the Thunder on Wednesday night.

The strangest thing about the costly penalty for launching the ball into the seats was the undeniable fact that there were no fans in Chesapeake Energy Arena, though there might have been a few cardboard cutouts at risk.

And who knows? Maybe an NFL team in desperate need of a kicker might come calling to give Dejounte a shot at becoming a two-sport athlete with the way he booted the rock into oblivion.

Either way, the fourth-year floor general was spectacular for the Spurs in their return from a ten-day hoops hiatus, recording 27 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals while committing zero turnovers.

Unfortunately, the Silver and Black were unable to fend off an inspired performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the third-year combo guard exploded for six three-pointers and a career-high 42 points.
