David Silva ‘in talks with Valencia about joining them when he leaves Manchester City’

David Silva is in talks about a return to former club Valencia but a potential deal is being complicated by the coronavirus crisis.

The 34-year-old has signalled his intention to leave Manchester City at the end of his contract, which is set to expire on June 30.

Valencia are keen to re-sign the midfielder 10 years after he left the club for the Etihad Stadium.

But talks are being hampered by the uncertainty surrounding the implications of COVID-19 for players out of contract this summer, according to ESPN.

FIFA have suggested contracts due to end on June 30 should be extended until the season can be completed.

Silva, regarded as one of the greatest players in the club’s history, announced in September he’ll leave City at the end of this season.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami club in America’s MLS.

A tribute for him was planned at City’s final game of the Premier League campaign against Norwich next month but there is no guarantee the match will take place with the season postponed indefinitely.
