Cristiano Ronaldo addresses notion he convinced Buccaneers’ Tom Brady to end retirement

Manchester United and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he didn’t convince quarterback Tom Brady to end his retirement and return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Psychology, see. I’m a good psychologist,” Ronaldo joked about an encounter he had with Brady back in March during what’s become a controversial interview with Piers Morgan, per Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post. “I think he had taken the decision a few weeks before that. He’s a very smart guy who knows a lot about football [soccer], we had a nice conversation. I don’t think that had anything to do with it, though.”

Brady famously announced his retirement from playing on Feb. 1 and later flew across the pond. During his trip overseas, the seven-time Super Bowl champion attended a March 12 Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford that United won 3-2 thanks to a Ronaldo hat-trick. Following the game, Brady and Ronaldo posed for pictures and enjoyed a friendly on-the-pitch conversation that some believed at the time included TB12 confirming he was returning to the Buccaneers for another season:
