Club President Reveals ‘Interest Is Considerable” In £44m Rated Star As City, Arsenal And Liverpool Circle

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that there is a lot of interest in midfielder Houssem Aouar, but he insists that the player has not asked to leave the French club.

Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are all said to be keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, while the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also been linked with the player.

However, Aulas says they will not force Aouar’s sale when the transfer window reopens:

“A player’s decision is always the most important thing. Keeping a player against his wishes is not reasonable. Houssem has not said he wants to leave. We want to try to keep him even though the interest is considerable. There are no negotiations ongoing.”

Manager Pep Guardiola is known to be a keen admirer of Aouar’s abilities, having praised the midfielder following a Champions League match between City and Lyon last season.

Combined with the fact that David Silva is leaving the Etihad at the end of the season, the Frenchman could well be a candidate that the Citizens consider as a replacement.

With Aouar’s asking price reported to be €50m (£44m), it remains to be seen whether they will make a move for the player.
