Food fans in San Antonio and beyond will soon get the chance to own a piece of a historic Broadway diner that closed its doors this month after 101 years serving up breakfast and coffee to locals. Mary Ann Hill, of Mary Ann’s Pig Stand, will auction off pieces of its diner memorabilia and give the proceeds to the former employees of restaurant at 1508 Broadway, the Express-News reports.

Among the items up for grabs from the Pig Stand are, of course, a lot of pigs. This includes porcelain pig figures, pig cookie jars and piggy banks that have been collected by the owner over the years. There are more than 100, Hill told the Express-News. The auction will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday outside the Pig Stand under the covered parking spots on the property.

The Pig Stand first opened in Dallas in 1921 and then in San Antonio that same year. The diner officially closed its doors on March 12 after years of rumors. Hill told MySA that week that it was finally time to close the restaurant as operating it was taking a toll on her health. Hill had open heart surgery in June 2022 and her doctor told her that she needed to let herself recover.

“My doctor says, ‘No. It’s too much stress. You’re under so much stress,'” Hill told MySA.

Hill started working at the diner as a waitress in 1967 at the age of 18.

What’s next for the building is unclear. Local developers GrayStreet Partners purchased the property in February
