Claudio Ranieri sends personalised Easter eggs to his Sampdoria players during coronavirus lockdown

Sampdoria manager Claudio Ranieri has this weekend sent personalised Easter eggs to his players, as well as presents for each of their children.

The 68 year old personally contacted a bakery in Genoa and requested a chocolate egg to be delivered to each member of his squad, according to Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX.

The former Leicester boss also took the decision to send extra gifts to their children, boosting morale during the coronavirus lockdown.

The report claims Ranieri is the only Serie A coach to have made this generous gesture to their playing staff.

Italy has been one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with over 152,000 confirmed cases and 19,000 deaths.

Italy was one of the first nations to suspend its domestic football season after the outbreak of the virus, and it is likely matches will be played behind closed doors when the action resumes.

With 13 matches remaining in the 2019-20 Serie A campaign, Ranieri’s Sampdoria are lingering one point above the drop zone in 16th position.

Blucerchiati have won seven, drawn five and lost 13 of their league matches this term.
