City Star ‘Does Not Want To Stay Next Season’ As Rival Club Line Up Two Year Contract

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan “does not want to stay” at the club “next season”, according to Sport.

The German international’s contract expires this summer, but the Premier League champions have been trying to tie him down to an extension.

Negotiations have, though, effectively stalled and Sport claim that City are only willing to hand Gundogan a new one-year deal while Barcelona are prepared to give him a two-year contract.

Despite reported interest from other teams, including Arsenal, Barca are seemingly strong favourites to secure the 32-year-old’s services at the end of the campaign.

However,  there is one big caveat. The La Liga side need to stay within Financial Fair Play regulations so any contract that they agree with Gundogan would be provisional.

The midfielder has been an outstanding servant since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and he will be a big miss if he does opt to leave the Etihad in the coming months.
