City Have Scouted U17 World Cup Star ‘Several Times’ As They Line Up £6m Bid

Manchester City have scouted Ajax forward Sontje Hansen “several times” as they weigh up a £6m bid for the 17-year-old, according to the Guardian.

The striker was the Golden Boot winner at the U17 World Cup back in November last year, scoring six goals in seven games at the tournament for the Netherlands.

Hansen’s performances in Brazil followed on from a successful European Under 17 Championships last summer, when he scored three times as his country won the competition.

The teenager has already made his senior debut for Ajax, having made two substitute appearances, in the 4-3 win over Telstar in the Dutch Cup, and the 6-1 league victory against ADO Den Haag, back in December.

Hansen has been employed as right-winger more often than not at youth level, but his future appears to be as a central striker. City are said to be keen to reinforce their options up front and the Dutch starlet seems to be their primary target.
