Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante being chased by Barcelona as they eye deal involving Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona are reportedly targeting a swap deal with Chelsea involving N’Golo Kante and Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho – currently on loan at Bayern Munich – is looking to return to the Premier League after struggling at Barcelona following his staggering £145million move from Liverpool in January 2018.

The Brazilian is set to join back up with Barcelona in the summer but they are looking at a way to get him off their books while strengthening the squad with a different arrival.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are exploring the possibility of bringing Kante to the Nou Camp.

The desire of Coutinho to go to Chelsea has created a possibility for Barcelona to try and seal the signature of Kante, especially with the coronavirus pandemic set to make it hard to seal big-money deals.

Kante has big admirers at Barcelona, who are eyeing up an engine in midfield with both Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal potentially departing in the summer.

However, Barcelona will face stiff competition from arch rivals Real Madrid for the French World Cup winner’s services.

Barcelona believe Kante can help change the face of a team that has struggled in recent times, especially in the Champions League.

Barcelona may still have Sergio Busquets in the heart of midfield but the Spaniard turns 32 in July and the Catalan giants are looking for a reliable presence for years to come.
