Chelsea are set to appoint Tom Glick to their new-look hierarchy following the recent departures of three of the club’s most prominent executives.

Glick, who was previously Manchester City’s chief commercial and operating officer, is to take on a senior boardroom role at Stamford Bridge under American owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

The anticipated appointment comes after three of former owner Roman Abramovich’s closest aides: Marina Granovskaia, Bruce Buck and Petr Cech left the club.

The three former Chelsea chiefs all played integral roles in the day-to-day running of the west London club and their exits have left a huge void in the club’s behind-the-scenes operation.

But Glick will now take a lead role in the club’s new executive structure as Boehly and Clearlake make their mark on the Premier League club ahead of next week’s pre-season tour of the USA.

The administrator arrives with comprehensive experience of working in English football.

Prior to joining City in 2012, Glick was chief executive of Derby County for a four year spell before leaving for the current Premier League champions.

Boehly has appointed himself chairman and acting sporting director while the club make the necessary appointments to replace Granovskaia, Buck and Cech.

The American tycoon has taken a hands-on approach to his first transfer window in charge at Stamford Bridge driving moves for Leeds winger Raphinha and City attacker Raheem Sterling.

Sportsmail understands the Blues’ talks over a move for England star Sterling have accelerated significantly in recent days with a growing confidence a deal is close to being struck.
