Breaking Important 49ers Safety Set to Re-Sign

Although the team has not yet confirmed, multiple 49ers reporters have stated that an important 49ers safety is set to re-sign with San Francisco in 2023. Veteran safety Tashaun Gipson has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Here is more about the deal regarding the 49ers safety.

Important 49ers Safety Deal

These numbers are subject to change once the team officially announces the deal, but as of now it is a one-year deal for the veteran safety. Gipson will be 33 during the 2023 year. As he was contemplating retirement, a one-year deal is a safe one for both sides of the deal.

According to David Lombardi on Twitter, the contract details should begin with a $1.17 million base salary guaranteed. There will be a $1 million signing bonus and a $68,000 total per-game roster bonus. Another bonus will reportedly be a $50,000 workout bonus. The salary cap hit, if these numbers stay, will be $2.9 million.

Gipson will remain the starting safety with fellow safety Talanoa Hufanga on the other side. The question still remains if Jimmy Ward will return to the team to play nickel, but either way the team still needs someone for that position.

This is a great pickup by San Francisco, keeping one of their important pending free agents before he could hit the market. Luckily this was a team-friendly deal, filled with many bonuses. Gipson has also expressed his love for playing next to Hufanga, and the pair in year two together can be something special.
