As the winter storm continues to pass through the Texas Hill Country, some community members continue to be without power due to the icy weather. Now, residents in Boerne who have been affected by the weather will have to bear through a man-made power outage this morning as crews work to restore power to homes.

On Thursday, February 2, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) will turn of the service to one of the substations at 9 a.m. in order to repair transmission lines that have been damaged by the icy weather, according to a City of Boerne social media post.

“This will impact a large portion of Boerne Utilities residents and Bandera Electric,” the post states. “Crews hope the outage will only last an hour.”

The city is still waiting to get additional information about an outage for residents with Pedernales Electric Cooperative Inc. Boerne residents that have services through Pedernales Electric Cooperative Inc. are currently experiencing six outages that are affecting over 3,651 customers.

The city noted a few power outage tips for people to use during the outage: keep freezers and refrigerators closed, use a generator outdoors, residents that lose power need to turn off their heater and other electronics off and back on after power is restored, and disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid electrical surges that could damage those electronics.
