‘Big Loss’ ‘This Is The Worst News I’ve Ever Heard’ Fans React To Claims That City Star Has Decided To Leave

Manchester City captain Fernandinho will leave the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to reports in England.

The 35-year-old is said to have told friends that he is not expecting to be given another contract extension, but he has no intention of retiring, with a return to Brazil or a spell in the United States the main two options on the table.

Fernandinho would have spent eight years at City by next July. During that period he has won nine major trophies and supporters on Twitter are very disappointed by the news that he could be leaving:

It remains to be seen whether these reports are accurate. Fernandinho was handed a one-year contract extension last summer and you can’t rule out a similar thing happening this season if he plays enough games.

However, due to injuries, the Brazilian has been limited to three starts and eight appearances in all competitions this campaign so, at the moment, it appears a departure is on the cards.
