Bexar County Jail inmate dies following apparent medical episode

A 45-year-old inmate charged with assault of a peace officer is dead after an apparent medical episode, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning.

A 45-year-old inmate charged with assault of a peace officer is dead after an apparent medical episode, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning.

Around 4:37 a.m., a Bexar County Sheriff’s Detention Deputy discovered the inmate unresponsive in their cell while performing face-to-face observation checks.

Deputies entered the cell and provided life-saving measures while calling for more assistance.

By 5:14 a.m., paramedics from the San Antonio Fire Department pronounced the inmate dead.

The death is currently under investigation, and the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will rule on the final cause.

The identity of the inmate has not been released while authorities try to notify their next of kin.

The inmate was booked on Nov. 13 and his bond was set at $7,500.
