Bayern Munich are keeping up their long term pursuit for Leroy Sane and hope to sign the Manchester City forward for as little as £60million.

Sane was heavily linked with a move to the German giants last summer only for the 24-year-old to pick up a near-season ending cruciate ligament injury in the Community Shield against Liverpool.

The Germany international has not played a game since and question marks remain over whether he can rediscover the form that helped City win back-to-back Premier League titles.

However, after turning down the chance to resurrect the deal in January, Bayern are now ready to gamble on his fitness by offering City a fee in the region of £52m – £60m according to Sky Germany.

Sane’s injury which has not seen him play beyond the 13 minutes of the Community Shield this term coupled with the coronavirus crisis means his value has plummeted from the £110m City could have expected to receive last summer.

Sane is now fit again should the season resume and he appears keen on a return to Germany where he played before leaving Schalke for City in a £43m transfer in 2016.

Reports stated that the winger has held a 30 minute discussion over the phone with Bayern boss Hansi Flick over a proposed transfer this summer.

Following the sacking of Niko Kovac as Bayern boss earlier this season, Flick has since impressed in the role and has signed a new deal to remain in charge at the Allianz Arena until 2023.
