Barcelona hope to offload Philippe Coutinho to Premier League

Barcelona are still looking to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer as they look to raise funds in a bid to land Neymar and Lautaro Martinez.

Coutinho has spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich having struggled at the Nou Camp since his £145million arrival form Liverpool in January 2018.

But the German giants are unlikely to trigger an optional clause to permanently sign the playmaker for £70m, opening the door for a potential return to the Premier League, according to Goal.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all keen to bring the 27-year-old back to the English top flight.

Quique Setien has talked up chances of Coutinho returning to the Barca first-team fold for next term by describing him as a great player.

This, however, has done little to strengthen Coutinho’s position at the club in the eyes of the board, and the player would prefer a move back to England where he starred for the Reds for five years before his departure.

Barca’s priorities are bringing in fresh faces and to do this they must sell assets like Coutinho, whose departure would be key financially to enable a big name arrival to come into the Nou Camp this summer.

Neymar has been a long term target for a return after his world record £198million departure to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

His return would not only boost the attacking options but it would go a long way to pleasing star man Lionel Messi who has been left disillusioned with events at the club in recent times amid his clashes with the board which include rows over player recruitment.

Meanwhile, another option in Martinez has enjoyed a magnificent campaign alongside Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan and has been another long term target for Barca chiefs.
