AC Milan ‘chasing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha’ as Serie A leaders target attacking options

Serie A leaders AC Milan are keen to add in-form Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha to their title-chasing squad, according to reports.

Zaha scored his eighth goal of the season as Palace drew 1-1 at home to Leicester in the Premier League on Monday, and the Sun has claimed that the 28-year-old’s performances have attracted Milan.

The Rossoneri are having an excellent season but are heavily reliant on the goals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who turned 39 in October.

Evergreen Ibrahimovic has scored 10 times this season, putting the Sweden legend six goals clear of the next highest Milan marksman.

Palace talisman Zaha has been directly involved in 10 goals in only 14 games this season, volleying the opener against the high-flying Foxes at Selhurst Park.

He has frequently been linked with a move away from the club but Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has spoken openly of his eagerness to retain Zaha, who is under contract until 2023.

Milan are said to have been impressed by Zaha’s switch to a more central position and glut of goals for his low-scoring club.

The report claims that boss Stefano Pioli sees Zaha as the player who could make the difference as he attempts to guide the Italian giants to their first league title since 2011.

Everton had a bid for Zaha rejected in August 2019, and Milan could be willing to break the bank as they bid to extend their single-point lead over second-placed Inter Milan and hold off their other rivals.

Reigning champions Juventus, who have Cristiano Ronaldo within their ranks, are yet to hit top form, sitting 10 points behind Milan with a game in hand.

Ibrahimovic is supremely fit but has missed more than half of his side’s league games so far this season, including the last six through injuries.
