A little less talk, and a little more MACtion

You want some more MACtion? Well, we got it for you. The MAC kicked off this week of college football with two games on Tuesday, and Wednesday features three games! Talk about holy Toledo! No, Toledo isn’t one of our plays, but we’ve got two teams that should help you make some good money on Hump Day.

The first of the three games on Wednesday is Eastern Michigan vs. Kent State, and we love Eastern Michigan (+14) on the alternate spread as the first leg of our parlay. Yes, the Eagles are on the road against a Kent State squad that is coming off a blowout win over Bowling Green, but don’t let that scare you.

EMU has regrouped since getting blown out by Northern Illinois a month ago and has been solid on the road all year long. The Eagles have won four straight road games and are 4-1 overall on the road this season. Plus, EMU has a chance to move within a game of Toledo for first in the MAC West and potentially play for the conference title. Now that’s a long shot, but the possibility is still there. Even if the Eagles don’t win, don’t expect them to lose by two touchdowns. The Golden Flashes have yet to win consecutive games this year, and even as heavy home favorites, there’s no such thing as a guaranteed win for 4-6 Kent State.

As for the final leg of our parlay, take Central Michigan by a field goal against Western Michigan. Not only have the Chippewas won back-to-back games, but just like EMU, they’ve got a chance to get within a game of Toledo for first place and maybe, just maybe, play for the MAC title. A lot would have to go right for CMU for that to happen, but there’s a minuscule shot of it.

Meanwhile, Western Michigan is just 3-7 on the season and has started three different quarterbacks on the year. The Broncos have failed to score more than 23 points in four straight games, and asking them to keep up with a CMU offense that has scored 30+ points in back-to-back games is just asking too much. Central Michigan probably doesn’t cover the 10.5-point spread, but taking CMU on the alternate line (-3) is well worth it.

The Parlay: Eastern Michigan (+14) AND Central Michigan (-3) (-109 odds via Barstool)

Rams’ Kupp to have ankle surgery, headed to IR — Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is set to undergo ankle surgery this week and will be placed on injured reserve after injuring his ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The reigning Super Bowl MVP is second in the in league receptions and has accounted for 35.7% of the Rams’ catches this season, the most by any player in the NFL this season. The reigning Super Bowl champs have now lost three straight and are 3-6 on the year.
