The San Antonio Spurs got off to a slow start this season with injuries sidelining key players, the team did not appear to be the defending NBA champs. Even after the All Star break on the infamous Rodeo Road Trip, the losses started mounting up and the Spurs looked defeated and Sports shows announced the champs were dead. If it’s one thing we Spurs fans have learned over the years is never count our team out, the heart of champion will always prevail. The Spurs are regaining their championship form with crisp passing and hot three point shooting, as the final stretch of the season is quickly coming to an end. This is why I give you the five reasons the Spurs are favored to defend their NBA championship this year.

The Big Three – Tim Duncan Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili which are arguably one of the most successful big three in the NBA today.

Kawhi Leonard- He has stepped up his game and is now the front runner for defense player of the year and with his ability to take key players out of the game it will be hard for any team to beat us in a seven game series.

The Spurs Bench – The Spurs have the best bench in the NBA and with key players like Manu Ginobili, Patty Mills, Corey Joesph, Aron Baynes, and Marco Belinelli coming off the bench. The Spurs essentially have a second group of starters on the floor at any given time and will wear down any team come the playoffs.

Team Experience – The San Antonio Spurs have basketball minded players who know how to play the game and more importantly know how to win in the playoffs and the NBA finals.
