49ers Fans Hoping Deebo Samuel Is Next In Line

Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers is part of that talented 2019 draft class for wide receivers.

This offseason, the dominoes are falling for the class in terms of lucrative contract extensions.

A.J. Brown was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and signed a four-year, $100 million deal with $57 million guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Terry McLaurin also received a three-year, $71 million extension from the Washington Commanders.

It comes with a $28 million signing bonus and $53.1 million in guaranteed money.

With Brown and McLaurin getting paid, 49ers fans hope that Samuel will be next.

However, that’s easier said than done given the events that transpired this offseason.

Without question, the Niners should re-sign Samuel after his breakout season with 1,405 yards and six touchdowns.

He also established an NFL record for a wide receiver with eight rushing touchdowns.

His versatility helped the squad reach the NFC Championship Game, only to lose to eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

Yet while 49ers general manager John Lynch declared that they are willing to pay Samuel a fair price, there hasn’t been any development regarding the negotiations.

Therefore, the fact remains that Samuel has one year left in San Francisco until a new deal has been signed.

Will The 49ers Trade Samuel?

It was the wideout who requested a trade from the squad due to various reasons.

One of which is that he was unhappy with how he was being used on the field and would rather focus as a wide receiver.

There are also talks about him not wanting to play in California at all.

But while that possibility is still on the table, it’s less likely to happen as the offseason drags along.

The stall indicates that both parties are in conversation and are trying to finalize a contract.

Determining the numbers shouldn’t be difficult because Brown, McLaurin, and all the wide receivers who signed contracts this offseason serve as references.
