3 Bexar County Parks temporarily closed due to flooding
Oct. 14, 2021
Some parks in San Antonio are not open to the public following Wednesday night’s storms.
On Thursday, October 14, Bexar County tweeted that three local parks are temporarily closed due to flooding. There are park restrictions at Rodriguez Park, Raymond Russell Park, and Comanche Park.
The county also warns others to stay extra cautious when out on the road. Bexar County added to never enter flooded roadways, tweeting “turn around, don’t drown.”
Widespread thunderstorms brought heavy rain to the San Antonio metro area, with over five inches of rain falling in spots on Wednesday evening. It led to flash flooding, water rescues, and stalled vehicles from high water.
The storms are a result of the remnants of Hurricane Pamela absorbing into an upper-level storm system across South Central Texas and combining with Gulf moisture.
