The man is heard telling Smotherman several times “I’m going to hit you, you’re moving too slow” as he points the gun at her. The video doesn’t show Smotherman, but she can be heard trying to open a drawer and knocking things over.

The man instructs her to grab handfuls of lottery tickets and money as he stuffs them in a blue tote bag he is carrying.

The video cuts out right before the shooting and resumes as the man runs out of the store. Garden Ridge police edited out any footage of the victim’s voice or face.

Smotherman died at the scene from her injuries.
