TWO City Players Handed Nominations For The PFA Fans’ Player Of Year: VOTE NOW

Manchester City pair Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling have both been nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year award.

The duo were named alongside Liverpool trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane, as well as Leicester’s Jamie Vardy on the six-man shortlist.

City’s rivals Manchester United have no players nominated this year, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes having been overlooked for the prize.

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, who has also had an impressive campaign, was also omitted from the list but the decision not to include Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will raise a few eyebrows, particularly among Gunners fans.

For City, however, it would have been an injustice if either De Bruyne or Sterling weren’t included in the nominees, considering how they have performed over the course of this season.

De Bruyne, in particular, has had a phenomenal campaign. His 20 league assists equalled the record set by Thierry Henry, while he also hit double figures in terms of league goals for the first time. The Belgian international is already favourite for the PFA Player of the Year prize and if fans put their club biases aside, he would be very deserving of the fan version of the award as well.

You could make a similar case for Raheem Sterling. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals and contributed four assists in the league and he is improving his consistency every single year. Considering too that he isn’t even a striker, his ability to get into goalscoring positions is quite phenomenal.

Out of the two, De Bruyne may just shade it due to his consistency throughout the 2019/20 campaign. Sterling had a little dip in the middle of the season but his City teammate has been right on his game from the first match to the last.

As this is the Fans’ Player of the Year award, every supporter will have their say on who wins it. You can vote for either De Bruyne or Sterling by heading here.
