TRANSFER WINDOW ROUND-UP: Aston Villa eye up deal for Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers

Aston Villa want to sign Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers but a £4million deal will likely wait until the summer.

The Brentford captain has featured regularly this season and has provided three assists in 25 Championship appearances.  

Sawyers commenced his career in the West Midlands as a youngster at West Bromwich Albion, although he didn’t make a competitive appearance for the Baggies, and he also had a spell in the region with Walsall.

Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah, on loan at Fulham, is another Villa option.

Although he can also play in midfield and at centre-back, Fosu-Mensah has been deployed at right-back by Fulham this season but has found regular playing time difficult to come by.

Fulham are considering sending Fosu-Mensah back to United as they look to free up positions in their squad.
