San Anotnio Spur Tiago Splitter played only 10 minutes in his season debut as stiffness in his calf sidelined him for the rest of the game against the Atlanta Hawks. Tiago did not travel with the team Thursday when they faced off against the Houston Rockets and his availability remains questionable as a time for his return has not been determined. Tiago originally injured his soleus muscle in the second practice of training camp and did not play in the preseason and missed the first two games of the regular season before his brief return against the Hawks. Team doctors told Tiago today that his calf pain might actually stem from a nerve problem in his back which prompted him to seek the help of a specialist. Spurs head coach Greg Popovich was quoted as saying “I don’t know if it’s his calf or his back or whatever it is,” coach Gregg Popovich said before Thursday’s game. “He’s going to get looked at again by someone here real soon. I don’t know when that is, but I’m told it is going to happen.” Spurs fans we are better when Tiago is playing with the team as he is one of the defensive anchors and hopefully we can see him on the court soon.
