What do you get when two die-hard Star Wars fans unite? You get Lone Star Wars an art extravaganza, which is a unique take on Star Wars inspired art. Lone Star Wars is the brainchild of local San Antonio artist David Blancas who along with his friend Joe Garcia of The Spurs Fan Cave thought of the idea during a conversation under the Han Solo Paletta. The duo of David Blancas and Joe Garcia also collaborated to bring to life the halogram used in the Lone Star Wars exhibit. The Star Wars art of Lone Star Wars was inspired by classic pieces of art from such artist as Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci and M.C. Escher just to name a few. The traveling art exhibit of Lone Star Wars kicked off at the Geekdom event center on November 28th, 2015 followed by appearances at The Paint Yard, San Antonio Wookiee Walk, City Base Cinema and The Brick at the Blue Star arts complex. What once was an idea, quickly became the talk of San Antonio as both Lone Star Wars and David Blancas were featured on the local news and newspapers. David Blancas was even named the creative of the month by the San Antonio Department for Culture and Creative Development. While Lone Star Wars has come to an end for this year, look for bigger and better things as the Star Wars inspired art extravaganza returns in 2016. Lone Star Wars would like to thank all the sponsors Geekdom, The Paint Yard, Alamo Beer, City Base Cinema,The Brick, San Antonio Wookiee Walk and the Star Wars Society Of San Antonio. Special thanks to all the artist and people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make Lone Star Wars a huge success.
