Tammy Abraham rejects new Chelsea deal – Mirror

As per a report from the Mirror, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has turned down the offer of a new contract, as he seeks out improved terms.

Abraham impressing

22-year-old striker Abraham has enjoyed a fine campaign to date, on the back of his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Following a prolific 2018/19 in the Championship with Aston Villa, Blues boss Frank Lampard opted to hand the Englishman a chance to impress as part of his first-team squad, after a transfer embargo prevented Chelsea from adding to the club’s options up top last summer.

And to say that Abraham has since gone on to grasp his opportunity with both hands would be putting it lightly.

The Pensioners youth product has cemented himself as the club’s undisputed first-choice centre-forward, confining the more experienced Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi to the bench (prior to a recent spell on the sidelines).

All told, across all competitions, Abraham has directly contributed to a none-too-shabby 21 goals.

Abraham stands firm

As such, the young hitman’s fine form over the course of the campaign thus far has seen many begin to suggest that Abraham could yet prove the long-term solution to Chelsea’s woes up top.

It has therefore come as little surprise to see speculation mount that those in charge at Stamford Bridge have gotten attempts to lock their no. 9 down for the long-term underway.

If the aforementioned report from the Mirror is to be believed, though, then Abraham himself appears to be in no rush to put pen-to-paper on a new Chelsea deal.

It is claimed that the Blues youth product has rejected the club’s latest contract proposal.

This comes with Abraham determined to secure pay parity with the likes of fellow starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi, who penned a contract worth a reported £180,000-per-week last September.

Abraham’s current deal, though, is not due to expire for another 2 years, meaning that, as things stand, there is no major rush to agree new terms.
