Peter Holt, under whose leadership as chairman and CEO the Spurs grew into one of the premiere franchises in professional sports, has retired from both roles effective immediately. Spurs Sports & Entertainment made the bombshell announcement in a news release Wednesday evening. Rick Pych, president of business operations for SS&E, has been named co-CEO upon Julianna Holt’s request, the Spurs said. “For 20 years the Spurs have been a model franchise under Peter Holt, winning five NBA championships and becoming an anchor of the San Antonio community along with building a global following,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement.
