The northbound lanes near Alamo Downs are closed after an unidentified man was hit by an 18-wheeler as he attempted to cross the interstate, police said.

The man was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. Police said the driver of the 18-wheeler stopped to assist the man.
Police are still investigating and said that portion of Loop 410 will be closed for at least an hour.
