Open Thread: Who will be the next superstar to demand a trade?

With “leaked” trade requests and social media to air dissatisfaction, the task of leaving ones team has become more inevitable

Although Anthony Davis’ trade request from the New Orleans Pelicans was temporarily a failure, the practice of players making their grievances known has become more commonplace.

San Antonio Spurs fans know that pangs all to well with the entire Kawhi Leonard debacle that started in the previous season and carried on through the summer. (I personally wanted the Spurs to keep him and make him play or force him to willingly sit out which could have resulted in his losing eligibility to play for a year…thankfully this is one of the myriad reasons I am not at the helm of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.)

This season began with Jimmy Butler made things difficult for the Minnesota Timberwolves by looking for a trade using direct public ire. Although court of public opinion can still weaken a players face value, their game regulates their worth.

But trade requests are not just for max salary players. J.R. Smith made some waves earlier when he answered in the affirmative that he wanted off the Cleveland Cavaliers.

So who’s next? With the trade deadline in the rearview, the chess boards are mostly set up for the remaining 2 months of the regular season. But that doesn’t mean there is a star on a losing team planning his escape once playoff dreams are not realized.

Or will another situation like Kyrie Irving’s exit from Cleveland enough force a team with too many superstars to bump heads and break up (I’m talking to you, Golden State Warriors)?

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo desire a larger market? How about Chris Paul, he’s about due to go all Charles Barkley in pursuit of a late career ring.

Did deep, Pounders, and share it out: Who will be the next big NBA player to publicly request a trade?
