Open Thread: What if the Spurs brought back the full court press

It would be fun to see Patty Mills go full Tasmanian Devil again.

Is it me, or has it been too long since Patty Mills put on the full court press? If you watch the game on Fox Sports Southwest, you’ve been privy to Sean Elliott referring to Patty Mills as the Tasmanian Devil (with bonus sound effect):

There was a time, not so long ago, when Patty could force a turnover, steal a ball, or threaten to keep the ball from coming across the timeline in the requisite 8 seconds. No matter what happened, teams had less time to set their play and move the ball.

(This clip has steals in the front court, but Sean goes all sound effect).

Patty may be getting too long in the tooth to expend the amount of energy that it takes to go full throttle at both ends of the court, but with the youth movement in San Antonio, it’s time to lead the charge. Dejounte Murray should scare ball-handlers and Bryn Forbes has to make dribbling a chore for opposing second unit point guards.

I want to see these run-and-gun, three-shooting Western Conference teams slowed down having to struggle just to get on the other half of the court. These guys don’t need more time to plan their attack.
