Open Thread: Spurs “Top 3” Thanksgiving dishes

Now that the leftovers have taken over the fridge, the good dishes have been put back into the cabinet, and you can binge-watch your favorite show with half a pumpkin pie balanced on your stomach, it’s safe to say the greatest “foodie” holiday has passed. It was different, as we were constantly reminded by news media outlets. Even the watching of the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade or the Purina Dig Show was a reminder of just how different this year has been. *If you live here in San Antonio, you know the holiday was emphasized by a mandated 10:00 pm curfew.

This year may be over, but 2021 is just around the corner. And just in case you plan on hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for those San Antonio Spurs players who just couldn’t make it home, it might be helpful to know what their favorite dishes are. Thankfully, the Spurs Twitter account has you covered.

If Derrick White accepts you invitation, you better have your dessert table stocked.

If Dejounte Murray is your man, then reach out early to his beloved grandmother for her recipes.

But if Keldon Johnson is coming, soul food will definitely give the Kentucky Wildcat a taste of home.

Hopefully 2021’s holiday season will more readily resemble what we know. If anything, basketball should be back in the mix while we make meat stuffing sandwiches.

But if the good old days are pulling on your heartstrings . . .

Here’s a look back at Lonnie Walker IV spreading some holiday cheer last year and giving some families a wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s hard to believe it was only a year ago, but I was fortunate enough to cover this event. It was one of the first occasions I had to listen to LWIV and hear his eloquence, witness his spirit, and appreciate his commitment to service.

I hope you all hit up the Spurs Black Friday sales today. Once again, the online format kept people clear from packed stores.

Now, it’s time to get that Christmas tree up.
